I LOVE NEW TOYS, don't you??

I LOVE NEW TOYS, don't you?

Well, it's not really a toy, but a necessity!   Took my old HP printer All in One and HP computer in yesterday to my computer fix it guy!  I thought it was just a communication problem between the two of them and I kept trying to "fix it" with patches, new drivers, etc. from the HP site.   The old printer died!  I held the Burial Services  at Office Depot.

Went to Office Depot and they were having a great sale on a new HP Model All in One, Photosmart Plus...(printer, scanner, copier) wireless too.  It was $40 off regular price, plus could trade-in my old printer to recycle & get another $50 off the price.  Paid $58 for it...and you can't beat that!    Wanna know what the best part is???   The ink cartridges are very reasonable for this one and my other ones were super costly....close to $40, even for the generic ones.

Gotta get it hooked up now!

Yippee!

HIT THE BULL'S EYE!

This is one of my most favorite quilts that I have made and it's called the Bull's Eye.

It's a raw-edge, use up your scraps kind of quilt.  It's far from perfect; some of the circles are crooked, some of the fabrics don't compliment each other, some of the seams are not matched up perfectly.....BUT, it was Oh! so fun to make it.  I like to hang it up for display in the Fall because of all the browns, and darker fabrics.

But that's not the reason it's one of my favorite quilts.  This was our first "Tied Together Bee" group project from many years ago and it's very special to me!   We all made the big blocks, then cut them in fourths, then exchanged them with each other.  What fun we had making this quilt.

This bee has all buzzed out except for 3 of us, so that's why it's very special.

We did a few more group projects too, but none as special as this one!

Yo-Yos & DECORATING MADNESS!

During a long recovery from a surgery several years ago, I started making yo-yos.  Now, this was  before the plastic yo-yo makers that we can buy today.  I just did it the old fashioned way by using cereal box cardboard circles and drawing the circle on the back of the fabrics with a pencil, then cut them out by hand.

I never did count how many yo-yos I made for these valances, but I have 3 windows in my living room that look like this, and a shoebox full of leftover ones.   I've got to do something different with these windows one of these days.   One great thing about them, is I can change the colors of accessories/pillows, etc. in my living room, and the colors go with anything.    How did I get them on the curtain rod, you ask?   Scroll down to find out!

Years ago there was an old western tv show called "Have gun will travel".  Everytime I can't figure out how to fasten someting I think of that show........

So.....my answer for getting the yo-yos on the curtain rod was.........

Have "hot glue gun" will travel!  Yup!  worked fine!

WHOOOO IS SEW TWEET??

I love these machine embroidery designs I use for the little wallhangings I put by my front door.  It is "hiding" my house alarm control box, and just perfect for that.  I like to change them for the seasons, and have made several different ones.  Each one has the little birdies in the tree with the different theme accents.

If you have an embroidery machine and haven't seen them before, they are available from www.emblibrary.com and are called Tweets.   This particular one is my favorite 'cause I can leave it up for October and November, before I change to the Christmas theme one.

Ahhhhhh! Wish I was here!

Wish I was here walking along the beach, getting sand between my toes, with the water splashing up on my ankles; the sounds of the surf, the squeals of seagulls, the fresh clean smell of the salt water.......pure bliss!

I love the beach and wish I was here.

My oldest son lives in Pacifica, California & took these pictures.  All 3 of them are the same area, just different distances.   What a glorious sight!   Hope you enjoy them.

Tomorrow, I'll share some of the sunset ones!

SEWING FOR TSUNAMI VICTIMS

I thought I'd post again about this and share some of the simple totes & pillowcases I made for the Tsunami victims yesterday.  I plan on continuinng sewing more today and mailing them out to Bejeweled Barbara in American Samoa on Monday.

Someone asked "Why Pillowcases"??  Because that is what Bejeweled Barbara suggested, and it really is a good idea.  They are easy to make, they can put their belongings in them, they are pretty to look at, easy to carry, and if they put their clothing in them, they can actually use them as  pillows.....when Fema starts setting up some tents for them.   Quilts are a good idea too, and they don't have to be fancy ones; maybe some small ones for snuggling for the children.

So.....get busy and sew up a few things.   Go to:  http://bejeweledbarb.blogspot.com/ to read more about it.

Thanks!

Let's help! Tsunami victims! Make a pillowcase! or fast light tote

LET'S ALL HELP!

Sometimes we don't know what to do, and sending more money to the Red Cross just doesn't appeal to me, so here's what I'm going to do:

Barbara from http://bejeweledquilts.blogspot.com posted again about the After Math of the tsunami in Pago Pago and she's sewing up a storm.  She and her hubby live there.  She needs our help for donations, and I have requested her mailing address.

I'm going to be making pillow cases and some light weight one hour totes today!  Why not join me?  It is something we can do to help those unfortunate families!  Remember the Bundles of Love we sent to Iraq??  Let's do this one too!

I'm just trying to help spread the word!
