MY FAVORITE COMFORT FOOD!

I love the posts where different bloggers show these wonderful looking  fancy plates, table settings, special cooked food, recipes, fresh grown veggies, special desserts and talk about how they chopped this, and peeled that, and SLAVED all day in the kitchen for the 10 minutes it takes everyone to gulp it down!

I've had 3 days of computer/internet problems that has taken all of my time, energy, & patience.  The AT&T service technician has been to my house 3 times in 3 days; one time for 3 1/2 hrs.  Finally today, after practically dismantling all the wires, cords, surge protectors, modems, phone lines, satellite dish, alarm system, outside telephone box;  everything and anything that could be causing the problem, she discovered (yes..a female technician) that the main telephone line coming from the main box was bad and actually had a crack in it.  AND.....I've been messing with this problem on and off since January 12, 2010.  Can you believe it?

Needless to say for 3 days, this has taken all of my energy, time, patience......and especially taken away from time in my sewing room!  That is the corker to all of this.......don't mess with a quilter's time!

So, thought I'd share one of my special dinners on my blog, just like all the other fantastic cooks out there.  Here's my special dinner I fixed for me tonight.  I definitely needed comfort food after the last 3 days.

And, bet you're wondering what I ate for dessert??.............ahhhhh!

I didn't eat the whole package............YET!

What do you like to eat after 3 days of frustration and no time for sewing??

Thanks for stopping by and tomorrow, let's do some quilting!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?

The "Lucky Win Fairies" have been flying to me for quite a while now, delivering me some great surprises.  I'm so excited and thankful for my good fortune.

Here's my latest win!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?

I won the EQ 7 new software package from the AccuQuilt/Electric Quilt giveaway.  How Super!  I used to have EQ4 a long time ago,  and never used it much......so gave it to my daughter.   If you want to know more about it, just click on the title of this post to GO to Electric Quilt's website.   I haven't had much time to play with it......but sure looks easy & fun......and sew much to learn.  Whoo Hoo!

AccuQuilt teamed up with EQ7 and they are offering another challenge for designing new quilt layouts using the GO cutter and EQ7.  http://bit.ly/clvWFV  to win some new design dies to be released in October.  So, I gotta get  GOing and enter this challenge.

Thanks sew much Electric Quilt and AccuQuilt.  I'm thrilled!!    You will be seeing way more designs for the GO cutter from me in the future.

Now all you  people who are reading this, just do it!  GO buy yourself a GO cutter, and GO buy yourself EQ7.  You know you want to, and you do deserve a couple new toys.

You have been good, haven't you?   Made your bed?, cleaned up the kitchen?, laundry is all finished?, windows are washed?........oops..skip that last one, "I don't do windows."

Just tell them Judy from Sewfunquilts sent you.

I'm off the computer and into my sewing room to cut, cut, cut, 'cause I just got a couple new dies I  have to try.

ARE YOU HUNGRY??

It's almost time for lunch and I'm still remembering my IN and OUT burger when I was in CA on vacation.  Wish I had one right now.  Best burger in the whole country and as far as I know, they only have their Drive thrus in CA.      boo hoo.....sigh!

I always order their Double-Double with fries and a Chocolate shake.  Can't GO  wrong with that and they're the BEST!  ........snort...snort....PIGGY, PIGGY!

OK...it's time to stop reflecting on vacation (ya'll are probably tired of me and my vacation yakking, anyway)  and get back to posting about sewing/quilting/my GO cutter and recent happenings.

I had a nice big surprise package waiting for me when I got home from San Francisco, and here's what was in it.

I  won the CT Publishing giveaway!  Wow!  I received 5 new books called Simple Quilts #1 - #5 by Alex Anderson and Liz Aneloski, 8 new fat quarters by P & B Textiles of Alex's new Elizabeth Anne fabric line, and a Gift Certificate for a Star Membership  to The Quilt Show with Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims.  What a great giveaway and thank you CT Publishing, Alex and Ricky.

The designs/patterns in the books look great, easy, simple (as the name says) and perfect to use with the GO cutter.  Now to just decide which pattern to use with my new fat quarters.

Thanks again CT Publishing!

World Famous Pier 39 - San Francisco

Sharing more of my vacation pictures from San Francisco.............

No vacation to San Francisco would be complete without visiting the world famous Pier 39.

Lots of tourists and locals come to  watch the seals sunning themselves on one of the many seal floating platforms.

Very clear day to get a great shot of Alcatraz Island in the Bay.   There are tour boats to take you to see the prison.  Remember seeing the movies "Escape from Alcatraz" and the "Birdman of Alcatraz"..true stories.

This particular day we saw many HUGE barges coming into the Bay with containers of goods from Asia.  My picture doesn't really show you how large they are, but this one is "hiding" Alcatraz Island... and to give you a size perspective...the white boat is a very large tour boat.

There is a huge underwater Aquarium by the Bay at Pier 39, and we spent over 2 hours .....simply entranced with all the fish, touching tidepools, 9 ft long 7 gill sharks, & jelly fish that are totally surrounding you and even overhead in big tanks....3 stories high.

This picture of the jelly fish looks fake......but I assure you, these are real.

Naturally, we had to make a stop at the outdoor fresh organic fruit stand.  The strawberries were HUGE!  I bought a bag of bing cherries.

It's always fun to see all the sailboats and makes you wonder why they aren't all out on the water on such a beautiful day.

I'll end this again with another beach picture.........sigh!  My favorite "playpen"  in the whole world is the beach.

Shhhhh......it's a secret....don't tell anyone, but I love the beach even more than my sewing/quilting.  Can you tell?

These Feet Were Meant for Walking the Beach!

Sigh........vacation is over, but not in my heart & mind.

It's HOT here in S. Texas today and my mind and heart are taking me back to Pacifica, CA on vacation last week;  where the air is crisp, cool, NO HUMIDITY......(notice that last part in Caps??)...and the beach beckons to my feet.

The pounding waves, the frothy surf, the sandpipers & seagulls........ahhhhh!  that's better.

Ohhhhhhhhh!  that cool water sure feels good!

Just a little further out......that feels better!

Wonderfully refreshing!

"Come on guys, the water's great"..........

But......alas......it's time to GO!  (You didn't think I could post on my blog without capitalizing the word GO, did you?)

I left  my footprints and my heart in San Francisco!

More vacation pictures tomorrow..........

(what?...you thought I was finished sharing my vacation?....you gotta be kidding!
I took hundreds of pictures. )

Treasures of Inspiration

Vacation update from Pacifica, CA.......

I'm staying out of the sun and not going to the beach today..(darn it)..so will share some of my recent thoughts & treasures I found outside.   You know, if we all look and take the time to look....we do find treasures right where we are.   Where are you finding your treasures today?

My son, Scott, definitely has a green thumb.  His patio garden in Pacifica is definitely proof of that.   Every bit of available space/corner/fence/table/shelving rack has plants & flowers.......simply gorgeous!  He told me that coming home from work & puttering with his patio garden plants & flowers is one of his favorite things to do.   Here's a few of his flowers I found inspiring.

I love how the plants & trees are recessed behind this gorgeous sunflower...it adds an interesting setting for the background of the picture ...yet doesn't take away from the focal of the sunflower.  He has several of these tall smiling sun worshipers.... all started from seed.

Sunflowers lift their smiling faces toward the sun and turn to follow it...isn't that amazing?

The summertime days in Pacifica are usually cooler & sometimes foggy, so all of his flowers this year are "late bloomers".  But I know they just waited for me to come here for my vacation, so I could drink my tea on the patio and admire their colors & scents.

It's amazing to me that all of his garden plants & flowers are planted in pots.  He likes to re-arrange them and move them about......according to color, height, size...sure works well.  This cluster tea rose is bursting with blooms and has lots of new buds.   Since shades of pinks are one of my favorite colors, I thought of quilts and what wonderful inspiration Mother Nature provides for all of us.   Now..if I could just capture the different shades in fabrics............sigh!

Such treasures I'm finding  today!

I hope you find some treasures of your own today!

GO WINNER! Today's the Day!

With being on vacation in California at my son's, I wanted to announce the winner of my GO Giveaway in a special way.   Here we are on my first day here...just had to GO to the beach.  I got my shorts wet too!

Let's GO take a stroll and think about life........fills my soul.

Surf and sand.......nothing better for my kind of vacation.

Ok...ok...enough of me in the ocean.  You want to know who won the GO, don't you?

We had to set the scene...Candles...crystal bowl with all the numbered entries.   Life is just a bowl of cherries, (fun & to be enjoyed).  On my mesh bag...   "Any day spent sewing is a good day".  There's my Christmas fabric circles cut with my GO for making yo-yo's and stored in my mesh "sewing day" bag.

My son drawing out the winning entry.... and............

It's number 65!   Who is number 65?

The  suspense is building..........

Oh!  I'm being mean, teasing you like this.........fun for me!

Drum roll please.............ta da....ta da....ta da....

Congratulations to:

Maxwells who entered on 8/13/10 from Wilmington, DE and has a blog Thompson Family Quilts.  Please email me your name & address so I can contact AccuQuilt to send you a Free GO cutter and 3 free dies of your choice.

Thanks everyone, it's been fun!
