Here's What I Did This Morning!

It's been so hot here in San Antonio (103 yesterday and another 103 today) that I've been going swimming in the mornings before the heat of the day. I slathered on the sun screen and was in this pool from 10am-11 .......all by myself! What a great "private" pool in the mornings! Sure beats going to the gym to get my exercise!

And it's HUGE!

The ducks are always hungry so I took some dry bread and a few of old corn tortillas to feed them. Our pond is so low on water, they don't even go in it anymore...it's sad for them.

This bougainvillea bush is the only thing blooming
near the pool this year. In years past, we have had lots of pretty flowers! Just too hot this year! I couldn't resist taking this close up picture!

SEWING TWEET Wall Hanging

I love these "Tweet" designs that I am buying from Embroidery Library every week. They are now selling a different theme "Tweet" every week; sports, gardening, lifting weights, the beach....etc. Naturally this sewing one is my favorite and I have made a few of them. Can you see the top bird with the thimble for a hat? Sorry, my picture is not a close up!
This one I finished into a simple little wallhanging for my sister's Birthday and mailed it off to her today! Hope she doesn't click on my blog for a couple days, and hope she likes it.
I used a sewing motif fabric for the border and the backing, and did a "flip & turn" knife edge instead of binding it.
For any of you who have embroidery machines, you might want to go take a look at Embroidery Libary's designs. They are reasonably priced and always stitch out so great!
Thanks for visiting.

I WAS HACKED ON EBAY!

When was the last time you changed your passwords on all your accounts??

STOP what you are doing or planning on doing and go change your passwords on your email accounts, bank accounts and if you have an Ebay account & Paypal account....and any others where you haven't changed them the last six month.

Between last night checking in on Ebay at around 11pm and my first log in today at 8am, (less than 10 hrs.) I had been HACKED big time! I could not get into My Ebay account using my standard password. I had to call them and they gave me a new temporary password. (I have to admit that it had been a long time since I changed my password and it did have letters & numbers in it and was 8 digits long.)

When I logged into Ebay using the temporary password, there were 177 messages and 233 BIG PRICE TICKET ITEMS & listings that were not mine and over $300 worth of fees. The Ebay person on the phone was very helpful and actually listened to me, and agreed that I had been hacked by a 3rd party. She was able to remove the listings that were not mine, cancel the messages, and remove the fees. She even called me back in 30 minutes to confirm that the items had been removed.

There's no way to find out how this person got my password, as I am very careful about fraudulent emails, internet sites, etc., have good spyware & virus ware and my computer is scanned every 24 hrs.

Since the hackers are out there and let me assure you, they are.....then the only thing we can do is consistently change our passwords every month and stay away from unknown sites, especially "freebies", videos and music downloads!

So......as Nike's commercials used to say........."JUST DO IT". I hope by posting this message today, that it will save at least one person the headache of being hacked! It's just not fun! I'm thankful that no personal information was obtained or hacked.

WANTED: FABRIC SCRAPS MAGIC FAIRY??

I need help! Is there a Fabric Scraps Saving Magic Fairy out there somewhere???

My fabric scraps saving has got to stop! I used to save all of my quilt fabric scraps & sell "surprise scrap grab bags" on Ebay. I stopped doing that, as could only get $1-$2 for a Priority Mail Tyvek envelope full of them. I even sold 2" squares for watercolor projects in sets of 100 different print squares. Lots of cutting on that one, my friends! Then I sold 2" strips to use up the bolt ends. Also, stopped doing that due to the Jelly Roll frenzy and the popular size changed to 2 1/2" wide.

So, NOW....what to do with all of these scraps?? When I was cleaning up from another project and scraps were everywhere, I knew there had to be something better to do with all of this mess! Well sure.... make scrappy string blocks, naturally! I started cutting squares of backing fabrics out of muslin and started sewing 2 nights ago. Great project when you don't want to concentrate on doing something intricate, but yet you still want to sew. I like to do this at night while also watching tv for an hour or so. You'd be surprised how many blocks you can get made in one hour.

I've only done this 2 nights in a row now, and have over 23 blocks made.

What to do with all of the little tiny scrappy pieces??? I save those too!! I save all of those itsy teeny pieces, selveges, thread clumps, batting scraps, trim edges, etc. in plastic grocery bags. When I have 2-3 of these bags totally full I give them to a quilter friend of mine. She uses these scraps as "stuffing" for doggie pillows for the local shelters & Doxie Rescue Foster homes. Fleece works very well for the pillow covers, and you can make them big or small, depending upon the dog breed.

Now you know why I am looking for the Fabric Scraps Magic Fairy!
My sewing room is becoming a scrap room!
Thanks for stopping by!

FLORALS FOLDED

I just finished folding all those floral fabrics I found in the drawer of the file cabinet.

It's amazing how much less room they take up now, and I can see at a glance all of the colors & prints.

Gosh....I wish all my stash was folded with this method and looked like this. Oh well, onward and upward! Baby steps!

BLOOMIN' FLOWERS!

I was looking for some different floral prints to make up some Quilt Kits and finally remembered I had put some in one of the drawers in this old wooden file cabinet.

Now they are all piled on my cutting table and I'm going to do the "ruler folding" thing with them and get them nicely folded & organized. In case you haven't seen this quick little video here's the link:
I'll post another picture of them after they are folded....later today.

HIS MAJESTY'S GIRLS!

Here's more pictures of my room mates. The King & his girls!
Princess (Braveheart's sister & litter mate)The King (Braveheart) overseeing one of his "beauties" (Roxie) bathe.

Thanks for visiting! If my room mates were more understanding about my time, I could get more sewing & quilting finished.

The KING of the Castle!

This is the KING! There are 3 cats here in SEW FUN QUILTS Castle who allow me to live here. This one is the KING of this Castle, and I am his servant. His name is Braveheart and when he was born, he was the first one of the litter of 4 to venture out of the box on his own.

He is a talker and has to "talk" to everyone who comes to the Castle. Let me tell you........you better pet him and talk to him..or he won't leave you alone until you do. When he's finished "talking" with you, he'll dismiss you, lay down near you or on you, then you can continue your visit with his "servant". Of course, you have to continue to pet him & tell him how handsome and smart he is, or you will be banned from the Castle.

The other two female felines that live in his Castle are simply cats; one being his sister, named Princess, a long haired black & white beauty, with whom he likes sleeping beside him. Roxie is the other female; a rescued feral who was bottle fed by the "servant" before her eyes were even opened. The KING only tolerates Roxie living in his CASTLE to amuse him when he's in the mood for a Combat session.

If the servant doesn't have his dinner prepared on time, the KING finds her in the Sewing Factory and demands to be served immediately.

All worthwhile servants obey their KINGS!
