YES...I've Been Sewing!

Most of you know I'm in Love with my AccuQuilt GO cutter and I love cutting 2 1/2" strips with it. It's so easy and fun to sew the strips together. You never know what you might create.

YES...I've been sewing and here's what I've been doing.

How about a new table runner?

Well.....why not a few coasters or drink mug rugs to GO along with the table runner?

Enough strips left for 4 placemats...not quite finished,

but getting there. These should be sandwiched, quilted and finished up by the end of the day.

Have you been sewing?

Thanks for visiting. My free giveaway for June is tomorrow, so be sure to come back.

Visiting Feathers

My sewing room window looks out to my front yard. Look what I saw.

Our pond here in the mobile home park is very low on water due to the drought here in So. Texas. We have been having 100 degree days.

I was so concerned about these little visiting feather friends, I found a pot saucer, filled it with water and got them some small bread pieces. They were sure hot and hungry.

I first put the water saucer right in the grass. Then after the babies (5 of them) got right in it, and I had snapped a couple more pictures, I moved it to where Mama was...the shade of one of my rose bushes.

Enjoy!

(The pictures aren't in the proper order....blogger was giving me fits.)

Come 7pm that day, she and her babies left my yard to return to the pond and where they had hatched. I watched them walking down the street...and she would stop about every 6 feet to let the babies catch up to her and then rest a bit. It was still so hot that evening.

The next day she returned about noon.....but with only 3 babies. I repeated the water, bread and popcorn....and refilled the water saucer a couple times with cool water. Again, they stayed until right about 7 pm, and she led them out of my yard.

I haven't seen them again, even tho the water saucer is still there..........waiting.

Thanks for visiting.

Love Turning That Handle!

I love my GO cutter, and love turning the handle  even more.
Here's what I've been doing for a couple days.

My GO cutter makes it soooooo easy to cut perfect triangles.

Which makes the sewing even easier.

The humming of my sewng machine and chain piecing is another love of mine.  It's so relaxing I could do it all day long.  (I'll tell you a little secret.....sometimes I do!)

Can you guess what these are going to be?

I'll show you next time...........

By the way, it's almost time for another one of my monthly giveaways, so keep checking my posts.

Thanks for visiting, and I look forward to your comments.

Now What?

I've shared about my 3 "furry roomates" before.  But what's a gal to do when the  "chief quilting supervisor" is just too demanding and you want to sew?

No, you can't have the seam ripper.  I might need it for these stars I'm sewing, and I need it close by.

I save all the little selveges, trim pieces, corners, and slivers of all the fabrics, & battings that I cut with my GO and also when I'm sewing.    Here's the result.

This is one of those LARGE plastic shopping bags...overflowing.

Now What?

Well, you might not think it's very big......so here's another view so you can get some perspective.

Now What?

Grab any old piece of fabric and make a couple quick pillow cases.....any size, any color.  Will this grey polyester work?  Sure.

Now What?

Fill 'em up with those scraps, scatter some catnip inside & sew the ends shut.

Meoooow!  What's this, Mom?   Something new here.   I think I'll check it out.

Ahhhh......these feel pretty good.

Mom's trying to take my picture.  I'll just turn the other way.

She's doing it again.....

At least the scraps are off the floor and the bag is not overflowing!

Now what?

Save some more.........that's what.

Rubies and Garnets RHS

I belong to the Rubies and Garnets Chapter of the Red Hat Society in San Antonio.  There are many different chapters and each chapter does 'their own thing'.....as there are no rules and no dues!

Each month the members (ladies 50 and over)  of Rubies & Garnets  get together at a restaurant to have lunch, acknowledge Birthdays, (birthday gals wear purple hats and red dresses)  draw for prizes, share news of local RH events and celebrate.  BUT....the best thing about it is the laughter, fun, comraderie and to see who has bought a new hat.

When we arrive at the restaurant we sign in and leave our exchange gift if we brought one.  We can buy a gift ticket for $1 and if we win a gift, then we have to bring one back the next time.   Always fun!

We also have been having "free lunch" drawings where we can buy $1 ticket for a chance to get our money back for our lunch.

Sometimes it's difficult to find a local restaurant that has a separate room than can accomodate our large group.....30 - 40 members, and it gets "cozy" and noisy.

If you aren't familiar with the Red Hat Society or would like to read more about it   and how it got started click here.

I'm Trained!

Most of my life I was a "dog person".  When I was raising my family, all three of my kids were allergic to cats, so we had dogs.

When I retired and moved to Texas, my niece's cat was going to have kittens.  I lived alone and thought.....mmmmh!  Maybe I should adopt one of the kittens when they are old enough.

Well........I did........and this redwork embroidery piece I embroidered 13 years ago.....sums it up perfectly.

My 3 furry roomates have me totally trained.........

This is Braveheart..and he's the King of the house.  He wasn't very perky in this picture, and I had a difficult time getting him to look at me and keep his eyes open.

This is Princess.....and is Braveheart's litter mate sister.  She is so sweet, loving, no trouble.......and purrs real loud.

]

This is Roxie......and yes, I know she's a fatty.  Her feral Mama  dropped her at my feet out on the front porch when she was about 4 days old, and her eyes weren't even fully opened.  I bottle fed her and she still likes to be in my arms, way up under my chin(s) and cuddle.  Braveheart & Princess only tolerate her and they don't play together.

And.......this is Cinderella.  She's my tame feral cat, outside only....and is responsible for all the feral ones I feed and care for outside.  You can't have an outside cat and feed her on your porch without others in the neighborhood  coming for dinner.

Now don't misunderstand me, I love my furry roomates, but when I went to visit a friend over the weekend, her chocolate lab, Cocoa,  grabbed my heart.  She's a sweetie and made me question........am I really a "cat person"??

Guess I just like "furry, hairy" roomates........sigh!  Which are you?  A cat person, or a dog person?
