Sometimes.......

Sometimes we just need to sew, sew, sew......and make something simple and easy.  That's what I did with a pack of  "It's a Hoot" Charm Squares from Moda.

The squares in the rows are off-set every other row.

Yes, I used my GO cutter to cut all the white 2 1/2" strips.

What do you do when you just want to sew, sew sew and don't want to make anything complicated??

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Have You Joined SJA Yet? ...and My New One!

Sewing junkie!  Yeah! that's what I am!    I just can't seem to get enough of it.  Guess that's why my embroidery machine is always clicking away while my Janome 6500 and I are having another bonding session.

Believe me, if there was some way I could run my embroidery machine and both of my Janome sewing machines and use my GO cutter to cut the next project, all at the same time,  I would.  Just haven't been able to figure out how to do that ........YET!

There's always SJA ...(Sewing Junkies Anonymous) but, I just can't bring myself to join and GO to those meetings.  They'd probably make me give my stash away!   Oh No!...my goodness.....what a thought!

Pictures on a post are always more fun, than just talking, so......

The sewing progress of my latest quilt.   And...Yes, the squares and binding were cut on my GO cutter.

Here's one of my faithful "helpers" hanging out with me and my Janome while I sew on the binding.

Sassy Chocolate and Bright Pinks...shabby chic...ahhh!    (oops..picture is a bit blurry!)

Close up, that's better.    This one is now for sale in my Etsy store.

Thanks GO to Sew Cal Gal and Accuquilt for this next picture.  I was one of four lucky winners on her recent blog giveaway and chose the Rose of Sharon die, designed by Sharon Pederson.  Can hardly wait to use it and create something with it....maybe a couple new pillows for my sofa.   Sew Cal Gal is one of my favorite blogs to visit and she is constantly informing everyone about the latest happenings in the sewing world.  You should definitely GO visit her blog and become a follower.

Thanks for visiting......and come back soon.

Keeping Mr. GO Happy!

The only way to keep Mr. GO happy is  by cutting more fabrics.  Which in turn means I get to GO buy more fabrics.  Nothing's better than that!

These turquoise/teal ones are GOing to be in my ETSY store  as Time Saver Kits as soon as Mr. GO cuts them.

I've been GOing crazy for dots here lately, and there's sew many of them available now.  Do you like dots fabrics?

or how about these?

Mr. GO is GOing to be sew Happy!

Whistling while I work................ Hi! Ho, it's cutting time we GO!

Supervisors At It Again!

Are you a quilter who hears the Quilt Police Sirens??

I'm not even sure with today's quilters, and all the art quilts, raggy quilts, raw edged applique, simple square/rectangle patterns, and computerized long arm stitch designs, that they are even around anymore!   When they try to sneak up on me, I shoo them away and continue to quilt "My Way".

BUT...(and I hope you noticed...that's a big BUT)...there are 3 Supervisors who live with me who are constantly over-looking everything I do and especially my sewing/quilting.

There's a  small raggedy flannel blanket that stays at the back of my small sewing table in my sewing room in front of the window.  The problem is..........there's only room for one "supervisor" at a time.
It's kinda like 'first dibs, first gets' around here.

Princess was the first one this time, and is a great " quilt supervisor".  She goes to the "office" with the outside window and stays there.

Until Roxie shows up......that is.

Roxie  thinks she is the "Chief" Supervisor and that is her place.  She's the fatty one among the supervisors and insists that's her raggy blanket office with the window view.  Look at the look on her face....she is NOT a happy camper.

Roxie is the feral cat I rescued when her Mama dropped this 3-4 day old little fuzzy thing on my porch and ran away.  Her eyes were still closed and she couldn't walk yet, just wiggle.   I bottle fed her every 3-4 hours, made her a special little fleece/flannel "sleeping bag" and her bed was in a pet carrier on the floor beside my bed.

Consequently.....she follows me around the house all the time, and is always in the same room where I am and sometimes she causes problems.

Sorry......I don't have a picture of what happened next.   Let's just say it got a little noisy and it sure interrupted the "quilting factory worker" from finishing that quilt.

Do you have any quilt "supervisors" in your sewing room?

Just Foolin' Around and I'm a Winner!

Time to quit the pink and red colors (Valentine's Day is over) on my blog, so now it's green time.  So just been foolin' around this morning testing different colors, etc....

Wanted something simple.....and had to be green and here it is.  We'll live with it for a few days ........then who know?

The Win Fairies are flying all around me here lately....and I've really been lucky.  Sure puts a smile on your face, that's for sure!  Maybe it has something to do with my new picture at the top of my blog???

Sew Cal Gal informed me yesterday that I was one of the four winners on her Giveaway blog for AccuQuilt.  I won a GO die of my choice from AccuQuilt.  Now, it just can't get any better than that.

The question is.......which one do I want??  I won quite a few of them, and have bought many, many of them, but there's still a couple of them I don't have yet.  Let's see............

Mmmmmh!!     maybe Sun Bonnet Sue or Rose of Sharon or the wider 4 1/2" strip cutter.

Which one would you get??

Which Fabric Cutter to Buy??

Have you been wondering about the different fabric cutters??

As you probably know, I love my AccuQuilt GO Cutter and use it all the time.  It saves me oodles of time, is lightweight,  is sew easy to use and cuts many, many, many 2 1/2" fabric strips for my jelly rolls I sell in my Etsy Shop.  I won my GO cutter last year from Bejeweled Barb's blog...thanks again, Barb.

But, every once in a while I come across some information from someone's blog or website, that I just have to share with my followers.  Here's one of those times.

In case you don't follow IHAN's blog,  here's a link to Kelly's recent blog post talking about the different fabric cutters on the market......which is great, I might add.  If you aren't following her blog you should.  No excuses......just GO become a follower.

Here's a picture of the Slice Fabrique  (I'd never even heard of that one???)

Here she is using a GO cutter die in her Sizzix Big Shot Pro Cutter.
She also has a list of the GO dies that will work in it.

Lots and lots of info on that blog post and Kelly did a great job of explaining everything.  Thanks, Kelly.  Now, GO check it out.

What? No quilting today?

That's right.....I'm not quilting today.

My Etsy store needed some  updating and new listings for these new raggy minky  car quilts.  Yes..I did say quilts...plural.  I made two just alike, so if you know anyone who has twin boys or is expecting twin boys these little soft car quilts would be perfect for them.

Back to not quilting.......here's what I've been doing.

Playing in my beads again....fun!   zipper pulls for some new  bags.

I really like this turquoise, white and grey one....

Now, I've got to go take some pictures of the new cosmetic bags.....no quilting today.

Well, maybe some sewing later.......sure don't want to have quilting withdrawals.

Thanks for visiting.

All over cyberland, people are talking about the  weather, snow & icy conditions.  Well, folks.......it's really been cold here too.  Not like Chicago, but really cold for us southerners.

I live in South Texas.....San Antonio (home of the famous River Walk and The Alamo) to be exact.  Last night about 9pm it started snowing and sleeting.   Officials  had to close all the freeways &  interstate highways due to the horrible slick black ice.  Schools are closed today too.

Here's what my front porch looked like this morning...notice the little kitty footprints from the feral cats.

Here's ....my neighbor's car and street in the front.

The empty lot and street behind my house........

The sun is out and it's supposed to get above freezing today, so all of it will melt, thank goodness.  We've had several days in a row in the teens and 20's, so the sun is definitely welcome today.

I know it sure doesn't look like much to people who live in the snowy areas, but remember....this is south Texas and it's very unusual for San Antonio.

It's time to go make/sew  a warm quilt.................

Thanks for visiting.

Planning Ahead or Not?

I love to plan my quilting projects ahead of time.

We aren't GOing to talk about how cold it is today all over the USA (even though I've had to GO outside two times already to change the outside feral cats water bucket from ice to water).   We are expecting a high of 32 today and the wind is blowing.....so feels like 10.  Yikes!  That's really cold for South Texas. Our local weatherman said we can expect some snow late Thursday.  Whoa!  Nellie!  Wait a minute.  Snow in San Antonio, Tx?  That's what they are saying, so I might be talking about snow in a couple more days, instead of using my GO cutter.

Now, where was I?  Ok...yes, now I remember......we are talking about planning ahead.

Have I told you  I love my GO cutter??  If you don't know the answer to that question then you haven't been reading my blog for the last 6 months, have you?  Nothing's more fun than cutting with it, (well maybe eating some chocolate) so that's what I did yesterday.  (I cut... and ate some chocolate.)

Don't you just love the combo of chocolate brown & bright pinks?  mmmmh! looks like Valentine Candy.

Thanks to the 2 1/2" strip die, I can cut many, many small squares too!

Yup!  I'm gonna need a bunch of these.

The ideas are just dancing around in my head  how I'm GOing to be using these small squares, and I'm planning ahead for when I get some extra sewing time.

Drats!  I promised myself I'd finish a UFO every month and February is here.  Ok, I'll put the "chocolate & pink" squares away for now.

Am I really planning ahead or did I just want to use my GO??   I'll never tell.

Thanks for visiting.
